Recycling and reuse were not taught in school, but at home, in the small acts handed down to this day. Good, better-made clothes were kept and any garment was repaired, mended, reused. Nothing was wasted and, most importantly, almost nothing was replaced: why do it?

Environmental sustainability was the result of living in balance with one’s environment, certainly not a choice, but nonetheless a conscious one: one cared for one’s environment so that it could produce abundance and prosperity.

Inclusion was not a hashtag on social media, but the natural way of things: there was always room for everyone to work, to get busy, and to become part of the community.
